IBM i Modernization Summary
A common pain point heard from our IBM i customers is that their business data and logic is locked within the IBM i and its legacy RPG and COBOL code. Like many companies, Alliance Petroleum Company’s RPG and COBOL code base had been around for years. APC had a strong desire to leverage their IBM i system and extend the reach of the platform for future growth opportunities. As their technology partner for more than 15 years, APC trusted our team to complete an IBM i modernization for them.
Alliance Petroleum Company is an independent oil and gas company located in Canton, Ohio, with primary operations in the Appalachian Basin. Established in 1985, APC prides themselves on being one of the best oil and natural gas well operations east of the Mississippi River, and they are currently focused on wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
To extend the reach of APC’s enterprise Oil and Gas software and achieve a modern user experience, our team tackled three different sub-projects:
- Investor Self-Service Web Portal
- IBM i-based Document Management System
- Automated Data Entry System
These three projects leveraged existing IBM i code and data while extending the reach of both. These projects also allowed APC to add new features and functions to the software platform that significantly reduced manual processes, increased business efficiencies, and added customer satisfaction.
With these projects completed, APC can easily handle an increase in website traffic, add additional properties, and manage high volumes of contracts. The bottom line is that APC is now equipped to grow whenever and however they choose.
