This client is a retailer of items and tools for the outdoorsman. Their massive retail store serves over 1.2 million customers per year and is a destination store for hunters, collectors, and knife enthusiasts. They also reach customers through monthly paper catalogs and their eCommerce site. When the client wanted to update their eCommerce presence, they partnered with Briteskies to implement Magento Enterprise and complete a Magento and IBM i integration.
This client had an established eCommerce site that was not performing as well as they needed it to. The existing site was implemented at the forefront of the eCommerce era and ran natively on IBM i, directly accessing data on the IBM i platform. This legacy site was very limited in functionality and did not provide basic shopping features. The client knew they needed to modernize their system to achieve this goal, so our team worked with them to design a Magento Commerce website that would integrate with their IBM i system.
The result of the implementation and integration with IBM i is a modernized eCommerce site that lets users easily filter through the catalog while accessing the legacy ERP system.
The IBM WebSphere MQ is lightning fast and can provide both real-time and batch integration methods, and the RPG development team can support the site and related integration as well as learn new web-based technology giving them more control over their website. The client's new eCommerce site and IBM i integration is cutting down the competition.
